2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Authentication credentials (via Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In)
  • Timezone

2.2 App Usage Data

To personalize your experience, we collect:

  • Mood entries — Your daily mood ratings
  • Journal entries — Audio recordings and transcriptions of your voice journals
  • Evening rituals — Intentions, gratitude entries, and breathing exercise data
  • Alarm settings — Your wake times, sounds, and preferences
  • Alarm events — When alarms fire, dismiss, or snooze
  • AI conversations — Messages exchanged with the AI coaching feature
  • Briefing data — Generated morning briefings

2.3 Device Permissions

With your explicit consent, we access:

  • Microphone — For voice journaling and AI conversations
  • Calendar — To include your schedule in morning briefings
  • Location (when in use) — For accurate weather in your briefings
  • Notifications — For bedtime reminders and morning alerts
  • Speech recognition — To transcribe voice input

You can revoke any permission at any time in your device Settings.

2.4 Payment Information

Payments are processed entirely by the Apple App Store. We do not collect, store, or have access to your credit card number, bank account, or other payment instrument details.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to:

  • Generate personalized morning briefings (weather, calendar, affirmations)
  • Provide AI coaching and conversation features
  • Create mood and sleep insights
  • Generate evening wind-down content
  • Improve and personalize the app experience over time
  • Send bedtime reminders and notifications you've opted into
  • Provide customer support

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate WakeMind:

  • OpenAI — AI text generation for briefings, coaching, and affirmations
  • Voice synthesis providers — Text-to-speech for spoken briefings and voice features
  • Speech recognition providers — Transcription of voice journals and conversations
  • OpenWeatherMap — Weather data for morning briefings
  • Apple — Authentication (Sign in with Apple) and payment processing
  • Google — Authentication (Google Sign-In)
  • Cloudflare — Content delivery and media storage

These services receive only the minimum data necessary to perform their function. For example, OpenAI receives your briefing context (calendar summary, weather, mood) but not your full account details.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers with encryption at rest and in transit. Audio recordings and media are stored on Cloudflare's global network. We use industry-standard security practices including HTTPS, encrypted databases, and secure API authentication.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it. Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for analytics purposes.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and all associated data
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent for optional data processing (e.g., revoking device permissions)

8. Children's Privacy

WakeMind is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the “Last updated” date. Your continued use of WakeMind after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
